Video Quality: The media runs from the sublime to the ridiculous; this is due to the wide age bracket of the sites included. The newer stuff is great, but some of the older stuff is starting to show its age now that we all have big monitors and fast connections. Newer episodes are offered in Windows Media, Apple Quicktime, and VLC file formats for download in sizes up to 720 x 480 @ approximately 1,500 kps. There is also the handy FlashPlayer scheme for online viewing and preview purposes. The Video Galleries are nicely designed, as this screenshot shows.

Image Quality: 6 of the 8 included sites offer images which are up to 1,200 px wide or tall, from digital still cameras. Nude Male Dancers and Stroke That Dick provide Frame Grabs of varying size and quality.

User Experience: Next Door Pass is sweet, with a nicely designed ‘launchpad’ page (see this screenshot) that gives easy login and access to all the included sites. I actually started out nicely impressed, from an aesthetics standpoint. The first thing I noticed about the Next Door Pass ‘launchpad’ page is that there are some smiling faces to greet me. That will always get me happy real quick. I’m not much for that dour “Oooo, I’m so hot” look. I much prefer looking at faces that seem cool and friendly.

Because Next Door Pass is a portal site that routes members to several different “niche” sites, I wasn’t sure where I wanted to go, so I started looking at the guys and the short descriptions given.

I’m not much into personality sites. I’d rather be offered a wide variety. I don’t really like looking at girls or over-primped Canadian dancerboys, so that cuts it down even further. That left me a choice of two - Next Door Male and Next Door Buddies. I guess I was in the mood for more than one guy that day, so I chose Next Door Buddies.

I crashed into the wall at the first turn, when I read “They are all amateurs” in Next Door Buddies description while I was looking square into the eyes of Tommy D.

Just stop right there, I thought. I’m not stupid. I know Tommy D is as professional as they get. But, I kept on moving.

Then: “…the guy next door with - the guy next door!” I don’t know where these guys live, but I’d sure like to. I hate my neighbors, but we’ll leave that for the future.

These are all nearly perfect guys. Professionally manscaped. Flawless. No chest hair that I can find at all. All one type - buff. Chisled, smooth, white hardbodies. Not that I have anything against that, but I don’t see them as the “guy next door.”

Perhaps there are a few select South Beach condo communities with this balance, but you won’t find it so at any doors I’m next to.

The teasers for the updates didn’t capture me right away. They are mostly focused on the sex act, and not the guys in them. I’m all about faces first. The sex comes later. I don’t like to have to look very far to see what the guys in the scene look like, and it’s not their bodies that I’m initially curious about.

It’s the face. If each of these scenes greeted me with a smiling face - no matter who the guy was - my little heart would go pitter patter and I would be much more invested.

So, I changed direction a bit and paid Mason Wyler a visit, and immediately began feeling much better as this cute slutboy could at least be bothered to look into the camera and smile at me.

A peek inside Cody Cummings revealed that about 1/5 of the updates feature swinging boobies, but there are a lot of great solo and blowjob scenes to dilute them. And Cody is just a total hump who really knows how to play the camera - and your heart (see pic, see pic and see pic).

My trek through Tommy D was a pleasant surprise. While Mason is admittedly a sex addict, and Cody is admittedly a straight hunk who swings gay for the obvious reason, Tommy seems to have truly found his calling. Quite a few of the updates have a lot more slap and tickle than you would expect; especially the update with Peter Black, which starts nicely with a friendly game of football (see pic, see pic and see pic), and the update featuring The Twins, which shows some sexy “bros on a roadtrip” testosterone before the cocks come out later in the hot tub (see pic, see pic, see pic, see pic and see pic).

Something I noticed is that one of our original finds - Kent - is featured in several of the Next Door Pass sites, billed as “Kenny.”

He’s obviously come a long way (see pic, see pic, see pic, and see pic) from when we first met and filmed him several years ago, back when he was painfully straight.

That’s cool. We do have a way of starting guys down the road to hot gay sex…

The photo work in the Next Door Pass sites, in my opinion, is so-so overall; a few updates are spot-on, but in some the angles and lighting could be better. The videos are decent, obviously the product of high-end gear, and the editing has the great benefit of being simplistic.
