The fallacy of the “perfect guy”.

What is “sexy”?

I’ve always had a strongly egalitarian nature. I’ve always strived to find the good in people, particularly when that “good” may not be readily apparent.

I’ve also learned that what looks good on the surface can easily be shit underneath.

This is particularly true of guys.

It seems an axiom in gay male porno today that if a guy looks “good” physically that’s all that matters. Personality in porn is irrelevant today.

I disagree. I certainly do understand that porno is meant to turn the viewer on. But, I also know that the best part of sex resides in the mind. I know that if I’m not turned on in my mind, my cock won’t react.

So, to me, personality is paramount. I’m not nearly as attracted to a perfect physique as I am a nasty attitude. Or a curious attitude. Or a good boy who wants to be bad.

One time a big shot gay porno producer in L. A. told me that Cade Devilin would never make it in Hollywood because of his “hair lip”. He actually said that to me. I couldn’t fucking believe it. If he had been in the room with me I’d have been tempted to spit in his face.

You see, just a naked body alone - even a perfect one - doesn’t tell me nearly enough to get me really turned on. Sure it’s fun to look at a great body and a flawless face, but that can fade really fast. I think street clothes reveal much more, and it’s that revelation that is erotic to me. I’ve met guys fully clothed who made me so hot I started to melt, and when they took off their clothes they had some physical flaw or another, but I didn’t care one bit. They were so fundamentally sexy that their little flaws became irrelevant. Conversely, I’ve encountered many guys with perfect bodies (or perfect lips) who totally made my dick soft the moment they started talking - or when they put their clothes on.

I’d rather fuck a hot and nasty construction worker with a slightly pudgy belly and a big fat cock than a gym manufactured hardbody guy that I know nothing about. That ends up being little different than fucking a mannequin.

I think if you’re stopped by some mundane physical flaw then you’re going to miss out on some of the best that life has to offer. Flaws can be a roadmap to treasure. That was certainly true of Cade Devilin - in more ways than one.

I have to find something beyond the body that is compelling and attractive. Some hint of something more than just big pecs and a big cock. Something behind the eyes. Something that simply can’t be revealed through a chiseled body. Often street clothes and a casual conversation is a good way to find that something more.

That something naughty and exciting.

That something erotic that transcends the physical.

This is why I enjoy filming guys that aren’t necessarily physically perfect, but who bring that something else to the table. It may require more than just a casual glance to catch it, but once it’s discovered it makes the sex that much more exciting.

Of course, a really big dick will overshadow a great many flaws.

It’s also why I always film guys starting with them fully clothed, and with a short interview. Without that there is nothing erotic left, to my mind.

I hope my films convey that philosophy. I know it’s difficult, and I know that not everyone is interested in or pleased by all this.

I know this sounds kind of corny, but this is my art. It’s my creative outlet. I make what I want. I create what appeals to me.

I don’t think I’m much different than most artists in that regard, and like many artists I know my work doesn’t appeal to everyone.

Rothko couldn’t be a capitalist cake decorator, and I can’t make films that aren’t a reflection of me and my desires.

One of my primary desires is to pursue the erotic enjoyment of personalities (and bodies).

Pat adds this:

“I beg your pardon. I never promised you a rose hardon.”

P.S. Some might ask why I include a photo of Brent White in here, who is (we think) so obviously beautiful. Well, that’s because Brent does indeed have a major flaw that we’ve hidden quite well. But, if you were to see it your evaluation of him might change quite a bit.
